New market trends: demand for tool rentals and original products
Experts in the Russian tool market have identified two new trends in the industry.
According to the Petrovich Construction and Construction Union, demand for tool rentals increased by 12% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year. Private clients performing DIY repair and construction projects demonstrated the most rapid growth (+36%). Among cities, Moscow (+36%) and St. Petersburg (+6%) led the way in terms of demand growth. The most commonly rented equipment included vibratory plates, chipping hammers, rotary hammers, wall chasers, as well as installation tools and motorized drills, with demand for these tools increasing by more than 50%. Tools are most often rented on Fridays and Saturdays, with the average rental duration being two days.
Meanwhile, the market is demonstrating another trend in the business segment. According to a survey by VseInstrumenti.ru, 84.5% of Russian companies consider product originality an important purchasing factor. The survey included 200 representatives of micro, small, medium, and large businesses in the construction, manufacturing, and service sectors. Two-thirds of respondents admitted to purchasing non-original products, primarily due to the lack of availability of originals (69.5%). For 30%, price remains a barrier to purchasing originals. Originality is especially critical in the categories of equipment and spare parts (75%), consumables (58%), tools (57.5%), and others.
